IPL 2024: Ball Boy’s fielding effort wins Jonty Rhodes’ heart

Ball boys love to take catches at the boundary rope and it gives them a sense of being briefly part of the game, which is pretty much exciting. When ball boys take brilliant catches, they steal the spotlight, which in turn, becomes a highlight reel moment that captures the attention and admiration of fans, players, and commentators of the cricket fraternity. This special moment got replayed in broadcasts and since then, the video has gone viral.

During the recently concluded game between LSG and KKR, a ball boy grabbed everyone’s attention by taking a spectacular boundary catch. The incident became a major talking point on the social media channels and what really made the video clip special was when LSG’s fielding coach, Jonty Rhodes who noticed it from the dug out, clapped and cheered for the ball boy’s exceptional effort.

The incident happened when KKR pacer Vaibhav Arora delivered a short-pitched ball to Marcus Stoinis a tad wide off the off-stump area. Meanwhile, Stoinis sensed it as a perfect opportunity to cut the ball over the third-man for a six. The ball boy covered ground in time to complete a catch in his safe pair of hands. The two-time IPL champions successfully completed a league double over Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. Earlier, they defeated LSG by 8 wickets to register their first win against the Lucknow-based franchise in the IPL. KKR marched on with confidence in the second leg in the opposition’s territory and won the game by 98 runs. Batting first, KKR scored 235/6 in their designated quota of 20 overs.

Sunil Narine played one heck of an innings as he pitched in with 81 off 39 balls including 6 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 207.69. On the other hand, LSG messed up the plot in the run-chase as they were bundled out for 137 at home. KKR are a step closer to qualifying for the playoffs. Currently, they are on top of the points table with 16 points whereas LSG are fifth on the table with 12 points.
