Punjab Kings are set to play their second home game of the IPL 2024 season at their new venue, Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. The venue has replaced Mohali Stadium as the Punjab Kings’ castle. The venue hosted its first IPL match two weeks ago when PBKS clashed against Delhi Capitals.

Now, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side is all set to face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chandigarh on April 9. Both sides are entering the match following victories in their respective previous games. Currently, SRH is at the 5th spot on the points table with two wins in 4 games, while Punjab Kings have also achieved the same tally so far. However, with a lesser run rate, they are placed in the 6th spot.

Chandigarh Cricket Stadium Pitch Report

The last IPL match in Chandigarh was played during the afternoon, and DC batters played with ease in the initial overs. However, Delhi Capitals had trouble scoring in the middle phase and kept losing their wickets. Nevertheless, they finished on a high note and managed to post 174 runs. The spinners and seamers who use variations can excel here. With a new ball, the batters are likely to be able to time the ball well, but as the game progresses, the pitch is expected to adopt a slower nature. The toss winner in the PBKS vs SRH match is expected to bowl first.
