On Sunday, Hardik Pandya made his captaincy debut for the Mumbai Indians against his former franchise, the Gujarat Titans. During the Gujarat Titans’ innings, a hilarious incident occurred as an unexpected visitor entered the field and completely ignored Hardik Pandya on its way.

This happened just before the 15th over. Pandya was about to bowl his 3rd over, but the match was halted as a dog invaded the field. The dog was roaming the ground and then ran towards Pandya. Displaying his affection for animals, the MI skipper warmly called out to the dog. However, Pandya was left unnoticed by the dog, and his reaction appeared to be disappointing.

Netizens on social media platform X reacted to the incident hilariously. Since taking over the captaincy, Hardik Pandya hasn’t been able to win over MI fans. Now, the incident involving a dog has become another sore point for them to poke fun at Hardik Pandya. Here’s the video of the incident.

The match at Narendra Modi Stadium saw Pandya winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Gujarat Titans, while batting first, scored 168 runs, with Sai Sudarshan being the top scorer with 45 runs. Thanks to Jasprit Bumrah’s 3-wicket-taking spell, MI managed to restrict the home side to a below-par score.

However, Mumbai Indians didn’t have a great start to their innings as opener Ishan Kishan was caught behind by Azmatullah Omarzai for a duck. At the time of posting this article, Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir were at the crease, with the MI scorecard reading 11-1 after 2 overs.
