Romario Shepherd garnered all the attention by facing just 10 balls in the MI vs DC match at Wankhede. In the last innings of Mumbai Indians’ over, the West Indies batter went on to smash 32 runs off Anrich Nortje. The pitch appeared to be an absolute batting paradise, and Romario took full advantage of it.
Shepherd arrived at the crease after Hardik Pandya departed, having scored 39 runs off 33 balls. The score before his arrival read 181 runs in 17.5 overs. However, Shepherd and Tim David unleashed absolute carnage in death overs. The duo collectively scored 51 runs in the last 2 overs, propelling Mumbai Indians to a mammoth total of 234, which is their 3rd highest score in the history of the league.
Romario Shepherd scored 32 runs in an over to Anrich Nortje
It was made possible due to Romario Shepherd’s remarkable performance, scoring 32 runs in the last over. Anrich Nortje had a decent spell up until then, conceding 33 runs in 3 overs and taking 2 wickets. However, his spell ended horribly as Shepherd proceeded to smack him all over the ground. The timeline of the over reads: 4, 6, 6, 6, 4, 6. With this Shepherd ended his innings scoring 39 runs in just 10 balls.

Interestingly, despite reaching the 234-run mark, no Mumbai Indians batter scored a fifty in the game. It was a total team effort, with Rohit, Kishan, Pandya, Tim David, and Shepherd all contributing with innings of 35-plus runs. Rohit Sharma top-scored for Mumbai Indians with 49 runs.
However, the show was stolen by Romario Shepherd, who not only unleashed a batting carnage but also made contributions with the ball. He managed to dismiss the dangerous David Warner. For his outstanding all-round performance, Shepherd was named the Man of the Match.

The target of 235 runs proved to be too far for the Delhi Capitals. Though Prithvi Shaw and Abhishek Porel built an 88-run partnership, they failed to maintain the required run rate. In the end, Tristan Stubbs played a gutsy knock of 71 runs off 25 balls, but Delhi Capitals fell 30 runs short of the target.
