The date and time for IPL Auction 2021 have already been announced. The bidding war will take place on 18 February in Chennai and expected to start at 3:30 PM (IST). A total of 1097 players have registered for the mini-auction, out of which 814 are Indians while the rest 283 are overseas players. Currently, the Punjab franchise has the highest purse available (53.20 crore) with 9 available slots. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad and KKR have the lowest purse. Both SRH and KKR have 10.75 crore to spend with 3 and 8 available slots respectively.

As the action of the 2021 season of the cash-rich league is concerned, players are divided into 6 categories according to their base price. The highest price category (2 crore) has 11 players including Kedar Jadhav, Harbhajan Singh, Steve Smith. Following base prices are 1.5 crore, 1 crore, 75 lakh, 50 lakh and 20 lakh.
Eyes will be on players like Arjun Tendulkar, Cheteshwar Pujara who are not familiar names as far as IPL is concerned. S Sreesanth is also hoping for a contract as he registered his name for IPL Auction after playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
