IPL creates unique Guinness World Record during IPL 2022 Closing Ceremony

Gujarat Titans pipped Rajasthan Royals in the final to win their maiden IPL Trophy in their debut season of IPL.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League ended with a bang as there was a special closing ceremony before the big Finale which swept the viewers off their feet. The IPL 2022 Closing Ceremony was a grand event with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh performing and Oscar-Winning composer AR Rahman soothing the ears with his rendition. Along with the performances, IPL created a unique Guinness World Record during the ceremony.

IPL creates World’s biggest cricket jersey

The IPL 2022 Closing Ceremony commenced at 06:25pm IST with spectacular visuals and extraordinary performances. However, there was one event during the ceremony that has landed IPL in the Guinness Book of World Records. The ceremony witnessed the unveiling of the largest Cricket Jersey in the biggest cricket stadium of the world; the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad.

The biggest cricket jersey that was unveiled during the IPL 2022 Closing Ceremony is a massive 42 meters wide and 66 meters long. With the humongous size of the jersey, IPL created a unique record which has went into the Guinness Book of World Records. During the ceremony, the honour was presented to BCCI officials Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah and IPL chairman Brijesh Patel.

The IPL 2022 Closing Ceremony was followed by the grand finale, where the debutant Gujarat Titans stole the show and went home with the title in their very first season of the cash-rich league. They were clinical in all the departments and the Rajasthan Royals were easily outclassed by Gujarat. Though Rajasthan couldn’t win the trophy, they went away with lots of awards. Jos Buttler won the Orange Cap while Yuzvendra Chahal won the Purple Cap for the 15th season.

Rajasthan Royals were restricted to a below-par total of 130 and the target proved to be quite a cakewalk for the Gujarat camp. In the high-voltage game, the Gujarat batsmen kept their cool and batted sensibly, ultimately winning the game and the coveted title.
