IPL match referee takes action on Avesh Khan’s aggressive celebration after the win vs RCB

A statement from IPL confirmed that LSG pacer Avesh Khan has been found guilty of Level 1 offence.

Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore on the last delivery of the match which led to celebration amongst its players. LSG pacer Avesh Khan who faced the last delivery of the RCB vs LSG game, aggressively threw his helmet celebrating his side’s victory, and has been reprimanded by the IPL match referee.

Lucknow Super Giants needed just one run off the last delivery but didn’t have any experienced batter to face the delivery as Avesh Khan was on the strike while Ravi Bishnoi was at the non-striker’s end. Avesh Khan missed his shot but the two LSG batters ran for a bye and started celebrating the victory.

While all the Lucknow Super Giants’ players came running onto the ground, Avesh Khan celebrated his team’s victory in an aggressive manner. The LSG pacer celebrated by throwing his helmet on the ground which didn’t go well with the cricketing fraternity.

RCB vs LSG: Avesh Khan gets punished for Level 1 offense

A statement from IPL confirmed that LSG pacer Avesh Khan has been found guilty of a Level 1 offence. Avesh Khan accepted the sanction and action has been taken on him for breaching the code of conduct.

“Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct. Mr. Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the IPL statement read.

Talking about the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore had posted a mammoth total of 212-2 in their 20 overs. They got off to a flying start courtesy of their opening pair of Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis.

Virat Kohli smashed a 44-ball 61 including 4 boundaries and 4 maximums while Faf du Plessis scored 79 runs off 46 deliveries including 5 fours and 5 sixes. Glenn Maxwell too played a quick-fire knock of 59 runs off just 29 deliveries as none of the Lucknow Super Giants bowler looked threatening in the RCB vs LSG game.

In response to the massive total, LSG’s top order failed badly. However, Marcus Stoinis changed the course of the game as he smashed 65 runs off just 30 deliveries. After the dismissal of Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran played a swashbuckling knock of 62 runs off just 19 deliveries. LSG had just one wicket in hand when they chased down the total on the final delivery of the game.
