In the latest ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings, a young Irish batsman has beaten the game’s veterans. Harry Tector slammed 206 runs against Bangladesh in a lately held ODI series. Here’s how Ireland’s Harry Tector surpasses Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in ICC ODI Rankings.
Tector smashed 206 runs in the 3-match series against Bangladesh
The talented youngster from Ireland has shown his quality in the recently held One-day series. He made a brilliant century in the 2nd ODI of the series which went in vain at the end. His technical ability stood out from the rest of the batters of Ireland.
He has been in sublime form recently having an average of 53 with 4 centuries in the 30 ODI innings he has played. Tector has been the real deal for Ireland in all formats as he is technically very sound.
His Test average of 47.5 is also impressive considering that he played all three test matches of his career in Asian conditions.
His recent innings of 140 runs in just 112 balls got him a major hike in the ICC ODI Rankings.
Harry Tector surpasses Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in ICC ODI Rankings May 2023
While the Indian veterans are busy playing the Indian Premier League Harry Tector has dethroned them in the ODI batsman rankings. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who were sitting in the 7th and 9th positions in the rankings have slipped to the 8th and 10th spot respectively.
Virat and Rohit have been very average in the last few months when it comes to the One-day format which has resulted in the demotion of their One-day rankings.
The former skipper of the Indian team Virat Kohli is still having an average of 57 but ICC’s latest rankings have demoted him.
Kohli drops to number 7 despite having an average of 54.55 in the last 10 ODIs
The 34-year-old has got his form back after a long rough patch in his career. He has scored 3 centuries in the 10 ODI games he has played for India.
Despite having a series of great performances Kohli is having only 719 rating points in the rankings. On the other hand, the young sensation Tector has 722 rating points making him the 7th on the list.

The number one on the list is Pakistan’s Babar Azam with a rating points of 777. He has been there for a while now as he has a whopping average of 60 in the format.
