There have been speculations surrounding Jofra Archer ever since he reached Bengaluru, with the reports stating that he might join Royal Challengers Bangalore for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation regarding the same but there might just be a possibility of him joining the franchise as a replacement of injured Tom Curran, who is doubtful for IPL 2024.
Following the IPL 2024 auction, scores of fans launched a scathing attack on RCB for a fragile bowling line-up. Now that Tom Curran and Reece Topley injured, the RCB think-tank would be surely scratching their heads with their current bowling quality for the forthcoming season. Incidentally, Jofra Archer is in Bengaluru as part of his county side Sussex’s pre-season training camp.
Is RCB considering signing Jofra Archer?
The Barbados-born fast bowler was spotted playing the Sussex vs KSCA XI match and interestingly, he even switched sides, which might have triggered speculations of him joining RCB. While there are rumours that RCB might rope him in as Tom Curran’s replacement, there haven’t been any official confirmation yet. For the record, Archer is currently out of the IPL 2024 owing to an ongoing recovery from an elbow injury,

The right-arm fast bowler hasn’t played competitive cricket since May 2023. For the unversed, he picked up an elbow stress fracture while representing Mumbai Indians last season. He made five appearances for the franchise, accounting for two dismissals but an unfortunate injury subsequently kept him away from cricketing action. In late December, the England Cricket Board (ECB) stated that Archer will not partake in IPL 2024 since he is not completely fit.

As things stand, Jofra Archer would be pretty much focused on regaining complete fitness such that he can don the England jersey to feature in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 tournament, slated to be held from June 1 onwards. The 28-year-old has made 15 appearances for England, accounting for 18 dismissals. On the other hand, he played 40 games in IPL, taking 48 wickets to his credit.
