On Monday, BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar alongside Rohit Sharma announced team India squad for Asia Cup 2023. They publicly announced the team via a press conference which was broadcasted live. However, as the graphics of the squad were presented on screen, Shubman Gill’s name was missing from the 17-man squad. Fans left shocked and started asking if Shubman Gill dropped from the Asia Cup 2023.
Johns and Mufaddal Vohra, famous cricket Twitter influencers fueled the information by sharing it on their handles which was enough to create chaos among Netizens. Soon the news spread on Twitter that Shubman Gill has been dropped from the Indian squad for Asia Cup. Many fans even assumed that his failure in the recent West Indies tour is the reason behind it.
Is Shubman Gill dropped from Asia Cup 2023 Squad?
No, Shubman Gill is not dropped from Team India. He has been included in the 17-man squad which will travel to Sri Lanka. As mentioned earlier, the BCCI released a graphic that was missing Shubman Gill’s photo and name. However, after a few minutes, a new graphic with his photo and name was displayed to correct the error, which had caused confusion. But the damage was done and the Indian board became the center of trolling.

Interestingly, the incorrect version of the graphic also included Sanju Samson among the 17 players. In reality, Samson is meant to be a reserved player. This means that if any batter gets injured, Sanju Samson will be brought into the squad as a replacement.
As far as the India squad is concerned, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are included in the squad but there is still a doubt whether they will play the first game or not. Jasprit Bumrah has also made it to the ODI squad after one year. Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna have been rewarded for their recent performance.
