Jasprit Bumrah’s return hit knocks out Cameron Green during India’s warm up game

Cameron Green and Jasprit Bumrah

A cloud of concern loomed over the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) during India’s three-day warm-up match against Australia A. The concern arose after local cricket Cameron Green was knocked out by a delivery hit back at him by Indian batsman Jasprit Bumrah. The traumatic blow knocked Green off completely as he walked off the field, although he seemed to be fine.

Cameron Green To Undergo Concussion Assessment
During India’s innings at the ongoing practice match against Australia A, Cameron Green while bowling his 7th over met with an unfortunate accident. His pitched up delivery was hit back with force by India’s tail-end batsman, Jasprit Bumrah. Although Green did try and take evasive action, perhaps getting a catch out of it, the ball hit him straight onto the head. In a dizzy state, Green was quickly tended to by the medical staff. After a while, he did seem fine and walked off the field but will be subject to the mandatory concussion assessment. The results of the assessment are awaited before Green can be considered for selection in the Australian team.

Cameron Green Doubtful for the first test
The traumatic blow has ruled Cameron Green out of contention for the first test against India. Green was in contention to get a berth in the squad for the first test but his injury has left selectors to look for other options. Australia’s regular test opener David Warner too will be out considering the groin injury he developed during the one-day international series.

India Struggle With Bat, Shine With Ball
In their warm-up game against Australia A, India found themselves in trouble batting first when they were restricted to 123/9. However, the last wicket pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohamad Siraj bailed them out with a 71 run stand. India though came back with a strong response with the ball. A fierce spell of pace bowling saw India limit the host to 107/9 (Cameron Green did not come out to bat)
