New Zealand and super overs is a never-ending story it seems. The Kiwis have been involved in plenty of Super Overs in the past one and a half year and sadly they ended up on the losing side every time. It must have been pretty tiring for the players to be so close yet so far from winning a match. Jimmy Neesham has shown his frustration after being part of another Super Over loss, however this time he is in the Kings XI camp.
As much as he would want to escape it, super overs don’t seem to leave Neesham anytime soon. He has been a part of two super overs and his team lost both the times. The first time he was involved in a super over was in the famous 2019 World Cup final where he almost won the game for his team, however they lost the game on boundary count. The decision had sparked a debate on the boundary count rule.
The second time, Neesham had to defend 16 runs in the last over against England in the fifth T20I, but he couldn’t and the match went into super over which the Kiwis lost. In the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, Neesham is representing Kings XI Punjab. The team played its opening match on 20th September against Delhi Capitals. Though Neesham was on the bench, he could feel the pain of losing a match in a super over.

Delhi Capitals scored 157 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to a blazing knock by Marcus Stoinis. At one point of time, Kings XI Punjab looked to easily achieve the target with Mayank Agarwal batting fluently, but it wasn’t to be. Stoinis was in action again with his bowling as he defended 1 run in the last 3 balls of the 20th over.
Kings XI Punjab made a mess of the super over as they only managed to score 2 runs. After that, it was a cakewalk for the Delhi Capitals. Unfortunately for Neesham, he had to be a part of yet another super over loss. He expressed his frustration on the Twitter where he posted a meme without any caption.
