Jio Cinema’s hilarious meme on Mumbai Indians Men’s team goes viral

Mumbai Indians Women’s team started their WPL campaign on a high note as they defeated Gujarat Giants with a whopping margin of 143 runs in the inauguration game of the Women’s Premier League.

On the other hand, MI Men’s team has constantly lost their opening games in the last few IPL editions and that losing streak has finally been broken by their female counterparts. Jio Cinema, the official broadcaster for the Women’s Premier League, took a dig at Mumbai Indians after their victory in the opening game.

Jio Cinema took to Twitter on March 4 and wrote, “Mumbai Indians have won the opening match of the league!” along with this caption they used the ‘Aisa pehli baar hua hai 17-18 saalon mein’ meme template. Their tweet went viral across social media platforms.

The Rohit Sharma-led side last won the opening game in the IPL in 2012 and since then the Mumbai Indians have lost their opening encounter every season in the Indian Premier League as they are still waiting to break the jinx. They lost their opening game against the Delhi Capitals side in the IPL 2022 edition extending the forgetful record to 10 consecutive losses in the opening games.

Talking about the game between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants, opener Hayley Matthews played a crucial knock of 47 runs and provided the kind of start Mumbai Indians were looking for. Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur capitalized on the start and played a scintillating knock of 65 runs in just 30 balls including 14 boundaries. Amelia Kerr too chipped in with a quick-fire 45 which allowed the Mumbai-based franchise to post a massive total of 207 runs.

In response to Mumbai’s total, Gujarat Giants’ innings never got the momentum they were looking for. Saika Ishaque scalped 4 wickets while Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr took a couple of wickets each to dismiss the Gujarat Giants batting lineup for a mere 64 runs. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was awarded the Player of the Match award for her fiery knock which put the MI team in the driver’s seat.
