A video clip of Indian cricketer Jitesh Sharma went viral on social media, sparking widespread chatter and even confusion amongst the netizens. The clip started with Jitesh seemingly being stopped by a security guard outside the Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Dinesh Karthik opens up on the viral video of Jitesh Sharma

Meanwhile, former Indian wicketkeeper batsman and current commentator Dinesh Karthik broke silence regarding the now-viral video clip of Jitesh Sharma. The former RCB cricketer has now addressed the issue and offered much-needed clarity on the same.

Speaking out on social media, Dinesh Karthik clarified that the incident didn’t occur at the main entrance to the stadium but rather below the media centre, which is a different access point altogether.

“These are some issues with social media that a lot face,” Dinesh Karthik wrote. “I invited Jitesh to the comm box, he had come, and I came and met him down and took him to the comm box and he met everyone there. Btw this is below the media center, not the entrance to the ground.”

His clarification puts an end to the speculation, highlighting how quickly narratives can spin out of control online. The former Indian cricketer’s explanation also reinforces the need to be cautious before we jump to conclusions based on short viral clips that circulate on social media.

For the record, Jitesh is yet to make his Test debut for India. Needless to say, the right-handed wicket-keeper batsman has already made a mark in the T20I format. He has played nine T20 Internationals so far. Overall, he mustered 100 runs at a strike rate of 147.05. He registered his highest score of 35 against Australia in Raipur in December 2023.

On the other hand, Jitesh Sharma has played 55 games in the cash-rich IPL. He has scored 991 runs so far in the lucrative tournament.

Team India Fall Short at Lord’s despite brave fight

Meanwhile, the third Test between India and England at Lord’s turned out to be a gripping contest. The cricket fraternity ran through a rollercoaster of emotions across all five days. While it was a sigh of relief for England, it was not the case for India, as that ended in a heartbreak. Chasing 193 for victory, the visitors came agonizingly close but were bowled out for 170, falling short by just 22 runs. It was the narrowest victory by runs ever recorded at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The match saw several twists and turns, with India at one stage appearing to have the upper hand. Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a fighting knock and remained unbeaten with a fifty. But England’s bowlers held their nerve and fought till the end, and all their hard work bore fruit on the final session of the final day. Young off-spinner Shoaib Bashir had the final say when he went on to dismiss Mohammed Siraj to seal the game for England.

Ben Stokes was named Player of the Match for his all-round contributions. With the loss, India now trail in the five-match series. The visitors will be looking to bounce back in the fourth Test, which is scheduled to begin on July 23 at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester. A win there will be crucial for Shubman Gill and Co. to keep the series alive and set up a decider. It will be quite interesting to see how this Indian side will make a rebound in the must-win encounter.
