JSCA International Stadium Complex Ranchi Pitch Report for IND vs SA ODI, Records, Weather Forecast

India will be taking on South Africa in a must-win game at Ranchi on the 9th of October.

JSCA International Stadium Complex Ranchi Pitch Report

Despite a brilliant effort from Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer, the Indian side couldn’t manage to go past South Africa’s total in the 1st ODI. South Africa did well to defend the 249-run total and won the 40-over-per-side game by 9 runs.  The second game of the series will now be played at the JSCA International Stadium Complex Ranchi, hence, here is the Pitch Report of the venue.

India would be looking to make a comeback in the series with a win in the Ranchi game, whereas the South African side would be looking to seal the series. Ranchi will be hosting an ODI after a gap of 3 long years. In the last ODI played here, Australia managed to defeat India by a margin of 32 runs. India has interestingly lost their last two games at Ranchi. Prior to Australia, New Zealand defeated India at the same venue back in 2016.

JSCA International Stadium Complex Ranchi Pitch Report

The JSCA Stadium Pitch is a batting-friendly surface where the batters tend to enjoy their time. There is not much help in the surface for the pacers and hence they would have to toil hard on the Ranchi pitch in order to find some success. The spinners do come into play as soon as the shine of the ball is gone. The JSCA Stadium pitch provides a good grip and turn to the spinners. The large dimension of the stadium as well helps the spinners.

Keeping in mind that the pitch is going to suit the batters throughout the game, it would be better to bat first and put the scoreboard pressure on the opposition. Anything around 290 would be a good total at the JSCA Ranchi Stadium Pitch. With the firepower in both the batting line-ups, it won’t be surprising if we get to see a 300+ run-chase.

Ranchi Weather Forecast for IND vs SA ODI

The skies will be clear over Ranchi during the daytime but turn party cloudy towards the evening. However, there is no forecast for rain. Hence, we would be able to witness a full 50-over game, unlike the 1st ODI in Lucknow.
