The match between RCB and SRH on Wednesday was a battle for a spot in Top 2 for the former and a battle of honour for the latter. It was SRH that came out victorious after the end of thrilling 40 overs. At one point, it looked like RCB would cruise to the victory but a run-out changed the complexion of the game. Royal Challengers Bangalore were in a mood to stay alive in the race of Top 2, however, Sunrisers Hyderabad spoiled their party and deprived them of 2 crucial points. The match witnessed a great performance by Sunrisers Hyderabad as all the players chipped in with contributions. The SRH skipper played an important role with the bat and then in fielding as Kane Williamson unleashes bullet throw to run Glenn Maxwell out.

The run-out came in the 15th over when Rashid Khan was bowling to Padikkal who was hanging in the middle and holding one end for RCB. On the first delivery of the 15th over, Padikkal bunted the ball in front of cover and called for a quick single which turned out to be fatal for Maxwell. The SRH skipper had one stump to aim and Kane Williamson unleashes bullet throw spot-on to dismiss the in-form Glenn Maxwell who was looking dangerous.

The run-out tilted the game into SRH’s favor to a good extent and the Hyderabad team kept taking wickets at crucial junctures from there on, ultimately winning the contest. Earlier, Hyderabad batting collapsed yet again scoring only 141 runs in their quota of 20 overs. However, their bowling department stood up, winning a game for themselves.

RCB is still in the third position on the points table with 16 points and is likely to end the league stage at the same position. On the other hand, SRH were already out of the contention for the playoffs and were playing for their honour.
