‘Keep your mouth shut’ – Rishabh Pant’s heated exchange with Rassie Van der Dussen recorded on Stump Mic

Rishabh Pant was out for a duck after getting involved in a heated exchange with Rassie Van der Dussen.

Team India is on a tough assignment currently as they are locking horns with South Africa in the second Test in Johannesburg. Day 3 started on a very positive note for the Indian team, however Rabada led the Proteas’ comeback and took 3 quick wickets. One of Rabada’s victim was Rishabh Pant who had a heated exchange with Rassie Van der Dussen and fell prey to Rabada immediately after it.

Pujara and Rahane came with a positive intent and scored at five runs per over in the first hour of the second day. Kagiso Rabada bowled tight lines and troubled the Indian batsmen to some extent which led to the wickets of Pujara and Rahane. Pant came to the crease and had a heated exchange with Rassie Van der Dussen regarding the catching incident which took place on the second day.

For the unversed, Rassie Van der Dussen was dismissed by ‘Lord’ Thakur for a duck on the stroke of tea on Day 2. There was no confusion as the batter walked off the ground, however after watching the replays, it looked like the ball brushed the ground before Pant pouched the ball. Van der Dussen had a heated exchange with Pant involving the same incident and their verbal spat was caught on stump mic.

The Indian wicket-keeper was caught on the stump-mic saying, “If you have half knowledge, then keep your mouth shut.” Though Pant was quick to respond with his mouth, he couldn’t work his magic with the bat and fell on the third delivery for a duck. The heated exchange with Van der Dussen got the better of the Indian batsman and he fell prey to it without a fight.

At the time of writing this article, team India has got a lead in excess of 200 at the loss of 8 wickets with Jasprit Bumrah and Hanuma Vihari on the crease. They will look to consolidate their position and get as many runs as possible to give a stiff target to the Proteas.
