Karachi Kings took on Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL 2023 match on March 1 at Pindi Club Ground in Rawalpindi. Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik got out in a weird way as he launched his bat in the air while trying a pull shot and got caught and bowled by Aamer Jamal.

Peshawar Zalmi put on a mammoth total of 197 runs against Karachi Kings after losing the toss. Karachi Kings didn’t get a great start while chasing the massive target as they were placed on 79-3 when Shoaib Malik came in to bat. However, Malik too was dismissed just on the third delivery that he faced putting Karachi Kings in deeper trouble.

On the first delivery of the eleventh over bowled by pacer Aamer Jamal, Malik was beaten for pace as he tried playing a pull shot against the attempted bouncer. While playing the pull shot, Shoaib Malik top-edged the ball and lost his grip on his bat as the bat launched into air.

Malik’s bat ended up landing just to the left of Peshawar Zalmi’s keeper Haseebullah Khan who took the bat and returned it to Shoaib Malik with a smile. Meanwhile, Aamer Jamal took a pretty simple catch to dismiss Malik as the experienced batter took a long walk back to the pavilion.

Talking about the game, Kohler-Cadmore, Rovman Powell and Haseebullah Khan scored fifties which helped Peshawar Zalmi post a mammoth total of 197 runs. Karachi Kings pacer Mohammad Amir scalped 4 wickets after giving just 26 runs from his four-over spell but his efforts were wasted as Akif Javed leaked 58 runs.

In reply to Karachi Kings’ total, the Peshawar franchise were reduced to 81 for 4 in the eleventh over and were placed at 122-8 in the 16th over. Skipper Imad Wasim and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade scored fifties but couldn’t take their team close to opponent team’s total as they didn’t get enough support from other batters.

After this victory, Peshawar Zalmi have moved up to fourth position in the PSL 2023 points table with 3 victories while Karachi Kings are placed at the fifth position after losing 5 out of their 7 games.
