Star Bangladesh batter Litton Das recently picked his Dream ODI XI and named himself as the captain of the team. He neither picked India’s most successful leader MS Dhoni nor Virat Kohli who’s considered as one of the finest batters of the modern generation. However, he did select two legendary Indian players in the XI.
Litton Das picks Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag in his Dream ODI XI
The Bangladesh keeper-batter picked aggressive Indian batter Virender Sehwag and Sri Lankan stalwart Sanath Jayasuriya as the openers of the side. Both Sehwag and Jayasuriya were known for their ability to score quickly against the new ball.
In the middle order he picked another Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar who has got immense success both as an opener and in the middle order. Australian legend Ricky Ponting got picked at the number 4 position in the Dream ODI XI.
Interestingly, Litton Das picked himself as the captain of the side even though he has very limited experience as the skipper of the Bangladesh team. Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is hailed as one of the finest cricketers in Bangladesh is the only other Bangladesh player in the XI.
Legendary Indian captain MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are some of the key names that are missing in the XI selected by Litton. He has neither picked AB de Villiers nor Chris Gayle as well in the team.
Meanwhile, Litton Das chose 5 front-line bowlers in his side. While Shoaib Akhter, Wasim Akram and Chaminda Vaas are the pacers in his team, he picked two great spinners Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan in his Dream ODI XI.
While Litton has picked himself among some of the great players in the history of ODI cricket, he’ll certainly be hoping to leave an impact in the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023 which is scheduled in the months of October-November. He might actually get named as the captain of the side as Tamim Iqbal has stepped down from the post.
The Bangladesh batter has an exceptional record against the Men in Blue and had scored a stellar century against them in the Asia Cup 2018 final. He also smashed 60 runs off just 27 balls in the 2022 T20 World Cup and was the lone warrior in the nail-biting thriller.
