The Lucknow Supergiant fielding coach won the internet in a rain-hit game. On Thursday, double headers were scheduled in the IPL 2023. Lucknow Supergiant was taking on Mahi’s Superking’s but unfortunately, the rain had other plans at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. In LSG vs CSK: Jonty Rhodes wins netizens’ hearts.

LSG vs CSK called off due to heavy rain in Lucknow

The return leg between Lucknow Supergiant and Chennai Superkings got struck by frequent showers at Ekana Cricket Stadium. CSL won the toss and chose to bowl first on a very sluggish wicket of Lucknow. Mahi’s decision of bowling first was proving to be right as LSG was down to 125/7 before the rain interruption.

Except for Ayush Badoni no one in the LSG batting lineup got going against the CSK spinners. Young Aush Badoni scored 59 off 33 like he is batting on a completely different surface. He smashed 4 balls out of the boundary in his innings.

For CSK, Maheesh Theekshana, Moeen Ali and Matheesha Pathirana picked 2 wickets each.

Rain interrupted the game in the last over of LSG innings when Pathirana was bowling. The rain density was quite heavy so the umpires had to call the covers.

After the 19.2 over of LSG innings, the rain started pouring down heavily which forced the umpires to stop the game. As soon as the groundsmen went to pick up the covers LSG fielding coach Johnty Rhodes pulled one string of covers.

The South Africans wanted to assist the groundsmen who work so hard to maintain the ground quality. He has been seen doing it before in the previous IPL seasons as well.

Although one of the grounds in charge took that string from Jonty the South African grabbed the other one.

LSG and CSK shared points at a very crucial phase of IPL
