Perth vs Sydney, today BBL match had a heated moment as Perth Scorchers batsman Mitchell Marsh loses his cool over the umpire’s poor decision. It all happened during the 13th over of Perth’s batting. A Steve O’Keefe’s delivery went down the leg side on which Marsh attempted a flick but missed. The keeper collected the ball nicely.
Keeper Josh Philippe made a huge shout for a caught behind. The on-field umpire pondered for a moment and raised his finger. Mitchell Marsh couldn’t believe it and lost his cool on the umpire. As DRS is not available in BBL Perth batsman had to walk back scoring 5 runs. A frustrated Marsh abused the umpire on his way to the pavilion.

Marsh gave him a hard stare and yelled expletives before marching disappointed towards the pavilion. “F**king sh*t umpiring,” he shouted and left the field. Later the replay made it clear that there was no contact between the bat and ball. However, cricket is a gentleman’s game and you need to respect the decision of the umpire.
Cricket Australia fined Marsh $5000 which is equivalent to 2 lakh and 78 thousand rupees. However, he escaped match suspension. The incident in today’s BBL match has left England star all-rounder Ben Stokes unimpressed. The world cup winner questioned the unavailability of DRS in the league.

“DRS isn’t there to make the umpires look bad Why on earth aren’t all competitions using it, it’s frustrating to watch something like that happen when it can sooooo easily be fixed.” tweeted Stokes. Stuart Broad also lashes out at the umpire’s howler. “He’s mad there Tough to lose one of your best players like this got to be close to using DRS on all TV games haven’t we?” wrote the England bowler.

Following Mitchell Marsh’s dismissal, Perth Scorchers posted 167 runs on the board. However, a brilliant opening stand between Sydney Sixers’ Philippe and James Vince chased the score in 17 overs. James Vince scored an unbeaten 98 and received the man of the match award. Thus, Sydney Sixers made their way to the final. Perth Scorchers will have one more chance to qualify for the final.
