Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has confirmed that he’ll put his name into the IPL 2024 auction ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Starc hasn’t participated in the IPL since 2015 and reckons that it would be the ideal preparation for the marquee tournament which is scheduled to be played in the month of June next year.

I’m definitely going back in IPL next year: Mitchell Starc

Mitchell Starc featured on the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast where he discussed his future plans. The Australian pacer stated that the next year is comparatively light for the Australian team which will allow him to participate in the IPL 2024.

“Look, it’s been eight years. I’m definitely going back in [next] year,” Starc said in the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast while discussing his future plans.

A perfect opportunity to put my name in IPL 2024 auction: Mitchell Starc

“So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next year…in comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in,” the Australian pacer discussed about the IPL 2024 auction.

The mighty pacer is believed to be chasing the 100-test mark which would be a rare feat for him. Legendary Glenn McGrath is the only pacer to achieve that milestone for Australia and Starc will achieve the feat if he remains fit till the 2025-2026 Ashes.

“Not just get to 100, I’d like to be good enough to be picked for 100 Tests. And then the big one obviously in a couple of weeks is the World Cup, which in India just goes to another level,” Starc stated about playing 100 tests for Australia.

The left-arm pacer has played just 27 IPL games till now for the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise and has taken 34 wickets. He last played for them in the IPL 2015 and has kept himself unavailable for the last 8 seasons in order to focus on his fitness.

He had put his name in the IPL 2018 auction in which he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders. However, he didn’t play for the KKR franchise as he had to withdraw from the entire season due to an injury.
