Australia’s experienced fast bowler Mitchell Starc etched his name into the record books after he was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for a staggering price of INR 24.75 crore at the IPL 2024 auction held in Dubai. Thus, he became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. Since then, there have been a lot of expectations on the pacer but the latter hasn’t done enough justice to his price tag.

Having played 9 games so far, he managed to take 11 wickets but at an expensive economy of 11.40 and a bowling average of 33. The left-arm paceman came under fire for his series of below average performances, especially in the slog overs where he went for too many runs. He has been kind of predictable in the death overs and the batters have often converted his deliveries into as many runs as possible.

Mitchell Starc gives a perfect reply to the reporter

Kolkata Knight Riders registered only their second win over Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai last night, a special win which came only after 12 long years. After the game, Mitchell Starc addressed the reporters at the post-match presentation where he was asked about how he motivates himself after conceding too many runs in the ongoing season of the IPL.

To which, Starc replied that he is 34 years old and that he has played a lot of cricket. “I am 34 mate. I have played a lot of cricket,” he said. Starc’s reply has gone viral on the internet. Despite Starc’s inability to contain runs, KKR have been performing much better as a team this season. They are currently second on the points table with 14 points (seven wins out of 10 games) and are a couple of wins away from securing the playoffs’ berth.
