Texas Super Kings defeated MI New York by 17 runs in the MLC 2023 clash on July 18 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. In the TSK vs MINY game, Faf du Plessis took an absolute blinder to get rid of Tim David and stunned the cricket fans with his brilliant athleticism.
In the tough fought contest between the two teams, Tim David at once looked like taking the game away from the Texas Super Kings. However, the stunning catch taken by their skipper helped them maintain the grip on the crucial game.
Faf du Plessis takes a blinder to get rid of Tim David
David came in to bat in the 13th over after the dismissal of Nicholas Pooran. The MI New York side were placed at 83-3 and needed him to score some vital runs against a pretty good TSK bowling lineup.
The explosive batter started off cautiously and then started playing his shots and took the game to the final over. MI New York needed 21 runs off the final over and they had Rashid Khan on the other end to support David.
Left-arm pacer Daniel Sams came in to bowl the 20th over for TSK and started off with a slow fuller delivery outside the off-stump. Tim David waited for the delivery and lofted it towards the long-on region trying to get a much-needed boundary.
The ball was seemingly headed to no man’s land but TSK skipper Faf du Plessis covered the ground pretty quickly and tumbled on the turf while grabbing an absolutely stunning catch to dismiss the dangerous Tim David.
Major League Cricket posted the video of the blinder taken by the Texas Super Kings’ captain and wrote, “FAF TAKES A BLINDER! Is that the game?”

The catch taken by Faf completely changed the complexion of the game as MI New York still needed 21 runs off the last 5 deliveries while they only had tail-enders to come. Daniel Sams dismissed Kagiso Rabada on the next delivery to make things even worse for the Kieron Pollard-led side.

They could only score 3 runs off the final over and eventually fell short of the target by 17 runs in the MLC 2023 clash against the Texas Super Kings. Apart from Sams, Mohammad Mohsin too scalped a couple of wickets while Dwayne Bravo, Zia ul Haq and Rusty Theron took a wicket each leading their side to it’s second victory.
