India’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has well and truly raised his bar over the years. He has been working really hard beyond the bounds of possibility in the training session. His hard work, persistence and determination helped them rise through the ranks to shine at the highest level. Siraj became the talk of the town after his world-class bowling spell against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2023 final at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

He took his game to the next step in intensity in the international final by causing all sorts of trouble to the Sri Lankan batters. Dasun Shanaka and Co succumbed to Siraj’s pressure and ended up losing the majority of the wickets. Mohammed Siraj went on to record his career-best bowling figures in ODIs by registering 6/21 in 7 overs. His awe-inspiring bowling spell helped India bundle out Sri Lanka for 50.

Sri Lanka registered an unwanted record of getting bowled out for the second-lowest team total in ODI history. This is Sri Lanka’s lowest-ever total against India in ODIs. Team India won by 10 wickets and lifted the eighth Asia Cup title. Mohammed Siraj was named the Man of the Match for his masterful bowling display.

Meanwhile, Indian cricketer Deepak Chahar who is currently out of the national setup reserved the highest respect for Mohammed Siraj by calling him India’s No.1 bowler. Chahar was impressed by Mohammed Siraj’s consistent bowling performances since last year.

He further expressed his delight in India winning a big tournament after a long time. Chahar echoed that India’s Asia Cup title triumph is a massive boost to the team going forward into the ICC ODI World Cup. Siraj is part of the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia. The ODI opener between India and Australia will kick off on September 22 (Friday) at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium.

“I was watching the match; I was at a practice. Siraj bowled brilliantly. He has been bowling brilliantly since last year, and that is why he is our number-one bowler. We had not won a big tournament for a long time, so it’s good we won the Asia Cup. It will give us a huge boost heading into the World Cup,” Deepak Chahar was quoted as saying by ANI.
