‘More like a Bollywood song’ – Cricket World Cup 2023 Anthem drawn criticism from Fans

The International Cricket Council (ICC) unveiled the Cricket World Cup 2023 official anthem today, September 20, Wednesday. The video clip stars Ranveer Singh who can be seen performing electrifying dance moves. The official anthem by the name of “Dil Jashn Bole” went viral in no time on social media. While some liked the visuals, music and other special effects, others didn’t like the anthem one bit.

Pritam, Nakash Aziz, Sreerama Chandra, Amit Mishra, Jonita Gandhi, AKASA and Charan put in effort to sing the song while Pritam composed it. However, a certain section of the fans launched a scathing attack on the anthem as they felt that it was more like a typical Bollywood song than a sports anthem. The majority of the fans took to their social media portals to express their views.

Fans criticize the official cricket anthem for Cricket World Cup 2023

Some fans didn’t hesitate to call it one of the worst anthems of any sport. The fans also expressed that there was literally no footage of the previous World Cup’s best moments, while also adding that the anthem feels more like an Indian dance promo. For the record, the official cricket anthem for the mega event is a collaboration between Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and renowned Bollywood composer Pritam.

The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 will kick off on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as New Zealand will lock horns with England in the tournament opener. It remains to be seen which team braves the challenges till the final stage to win the title, this time around. Australia have been the most successful side in the ODI World Cup history as they have won a record five honours.

On the other hand, Team India and West Indies won the ODI World Cup twice whereas Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England won the ODI World Cup once. England were the champions of the previous edition of the World Cup as they defeated New Zealand in Super Over to win the accolade for the first time in history. The upcoming ODI World Cup is going to be held entirely in India for the first time.

Team India will enter the tournament as the strong favourites and they last lifted the honour back in 2011 under the tutelage of MS Dhoni. India defeated Sri Lanka in the epic final showdown to clinch their second title. Rohit Sharma and Co will be looking forward to giving absolutely everything to put an end to India’s ICC title drought.
