Since 2019 world cup semi-final there are talks that MS Dhoni may retire anytime soon. Also, the reports were there that BCCI wants wicket-keeper batsman to hang up his gloves as he is not fitting in the team. But, according to recent reports of TOI MS Dhoni is not retiring anytime soon.
Dhoni Is Not Retiring
According to reports, Dhoni is no longer India’s first choice for wicket-keeper. He will also not be an automatic pick in the team. Rishabh Pant will take over the main wicket-keeper’s role and Dhoni will help him to groom him. The report says, “Dhoni could be part of the 15 but not part of the 11. This team needs a guiding hand on multiple fronts and wishing MS away is clearly unhealthy.” However, Dhoni will play IPL 2020 for CSK as captain.
As per TOI reports Dhoni has made himself unavailable for the upcoming West Indies tour. The former captain may not play for India actively but still, he will travel with the team to help the youngsters in transition.

Currently, BCCI is seeing MS Dhoni as a mentor for 21-year old Rishabh Pant. Young wicket-keeper has shown more intent than his senior Dinesh Karthik in past days. Also, Karthik is close to the end of his career, that’s the reason selectors are seeing him as the 2nd option of wicket-keeper.
Ahead Of The Windies Tour
Now, the Indian team is set to travel West Indies. The tour will start with T20I series on 4th August. Before, it was reported that Virat Kohli will be rested for both limited-overs series. But now a recent report says, Virat Kohli will play in the whole tour. Virat is utterly unpleasant with India’s defeat in the semi-final. Indian captain doesn’t want to skip any opportunity to make things better. Therefore, Kohli has marked his availability for the Windies tour. The selection committee will pick the team on 19th July.
