Former Indian captain MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket in late August 15, 2020. Ever since his international chapter came to a close, he has been fully focused on giving absolutely everything for Chennai Super Kings in India’s premier T20 competition. In the IPL 2023 season, Chennai Super Kings had one heck of a roller-coaster ride as the players went through raw emotions when they got the better of Gujarat Titans in the final encounter as the Yellow Army added fifth honour to their trophy cabinet.
In the last season, MS Dhoni has been dealing with a knee injury, which restricted his on-field performances. For the record, he faced only 62 balls in the entire season, mustering 104 runs. In fact, this is also the fewest deliveries he faced and the fewest runs he garnered in a single edition of the IPL. The doctors didn’t want MS Dhoni to put a strain on his left knee. As a result, MS Dhoni reduced his workload and played the previous season accordingly.
MS Dhoni opens up on the possibility of playing the upcoming IPL
The CSK captain who recently addressed an event hogged the limelight when he opened up on the possibility of featuring in the IPL 2024. One of the interviewers asked MS Dhoni if the fans would get to witness Captain Cool in action for the forthcoming season of the IPL. To which, MS Dhoni came up with an apt reply. He stated that his participation totally depends on how his left knee recuperates.
MS Dhoni said that he is very much interested in being a part of the CSK team if everything goes the right way. According to the doctors, MS Dhoni’s knee would recover by November. However, it remains to be seen what the future holds in store for the five-time IPL-winning captain. “On popular demand, are we getting to cheer for you in the CSK team next IPL,” asked the interviewer.
MS Dhoni said, “I’m trying my best. Like all of you know I had gone through surgery on my left knee. Doctors have said that by November the knee will be as normal as possible. So, if everything goes the right way, definitely I will be part of the CSK team. If not, we all will watch the IPL together.”
