Jio Cinema has come up with multiple features to attract cricket fans which includes streaming of IPL 2023 in 12 languages. However, IPL’s Bhojpuri commentary on Jio Cinema became the most fascinating feature as the commentators used a few terms during the first game of IPL 2023 that left the cricket fans in splits.
Defending Champions Gujarat Titans took on Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 31 for the opening game of IPL 2023. Ahead of the first game, multiple Bollywood stars including Arijit Singh, Tamanaah Bhatia and Rashmika Mandanna featured in the opening ceremony.
IPL’s Bhojpuri commentary on Jio Cinema becomes fan favourite
Jio Cinema is the official digital partner for IPL 2023. Jio Cinema is streaming the 16th edition of the cash-rich league in 12 different languages. English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Punjabi, Oriya, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu are the 12 languages available for viewers to choose from.
While streaming of IPL 2023 in 12 different languages by Jio Cinema was certainly a great idea to attract the cricket fans, it was their Bhojpuri commentary which became a fan favourite right after the first game.
Some of the comments made by Bhojpuri commentators were way too hilarious and hence got viral on the social media. Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammad Shami bowled a waist-high no-ball against CSK batter Moeen Ali and conceded a free hit.
The Bhojpuri commentator garnered all sorts of attention with his hilarious remark after the no-ball. “Ee ka ho, munh ha phod be ka? (What was that? It could have broken the batter’s face.)”

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans defeated MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets in the opening game of IPL 2023. Gujarat Titans chased down the CSK total in the final over and they have now won 9 out of their 10 games while chasing.
CSK star batter Ruturaj Gaikwad looked in sublime form as he played a scintillating knock of 92 runs off just 50 deliveries including 4 boundaries and 9 maximums. However, he didn’t get much support from other batters as CSK posted a total of 178-7.
Gujarat Titans approached the chase in a rather calm manner as they looked in no hurry. Shubman Gill smashed a 36-ball 63 and made sure the required run rate never went up. Wriddhiman Saha and Vijay Shankar too chipped in as Gujarat Titans eventually chased down the total with 4 deliveries remaining.
