Five Time Indian Premier League champions Mumbai Indians have had a rough start to their 2022 IPL campaign as the Mumbai based side have lost all their five matches with the latest defeat coming against Punjab Kings. MI are currently bottom of the points table and could miss out on playoff spots for consicutive seasons.
Mumbai will face a stern test against KL Rahul lead Lucknow Super Giants. However ahead of the match MI could make some personnal changes as the team is struggling to find the perfect balance. One of the changes could be a potential IPL debut for Sachin Tendulkar’s son and Mumbai all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar.
MI teased a debut for Arjun in a Instagaram post. The post read #MIvLSG on our minds and then tagging Arjun Tendulkar. Sara Tendulkar (Arjun’s sister) commented on the post and showed her support for the brother.
Still uncapped in first-class cricket Arjun has just played 2 T-20s for Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy team. He started as a net bowler for MI before being signed up for RS 20 Lakhs in the previous edition of IPL auction. However in the 2022 mega auction the 22-year-old also drew bid from Gujrat Titans before being resigned by MI for RS 30 Lakhs. The youngster didn’t get a chance to play of MI yet and could make his debut on Saturday.
The left -arm pacer could replace either Basil Thampir or Jaydev Unadkat. The team have been struggling in both bowling and batting departments. Skipper Rohit Sharma has also failed to creat an impact so far. Ishaan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav are only two batsman who have seemed to pick up some form. The latter has urged the the fans to show some patience as the side are currently undergoing a transition phase and has said the results can only be seen in the next few season as the team is working on turning young talents into finished products.

On the other hand Lucknow are still in contention for the playoff spots as the team are currently fifth on the points table winning 3 and losing 2 of their matches. Lucknow is one of the two new teams along with Gujrat Super Giants.
