The ongoing IPL 2024 trade window has created a lot of buzz. The rumors of Hardik Pandya’s trade deal have come true. Mumbai Indians have roped in their former all-rounder’s services for the upcoming season. However, confusion has arisen among fans as Hardik Pandya was initially listed among Gujarat Titans’ retained players in today’s announcement.

The deadline of the trade window is not over yet. Amid, Cameron Green has been traded to RCB and it played a crucial role in facilitating Pandya’s trade. The delay in the two trades might be because three teams MI, GT, and RCB were negotiating. But now all three teams reached an agreement, making the trades possible.

Despite releasing 11 players, including Jofra Archer, Mumbai Indians managed to maintain a total purse of 15.25 crore rupees. If they had opted to acquire Hardik Pandya, whose price is 15 crore, they would have entered the IPL Auction with only 25 lakh rupees. To overcome this budget constraint, Mumbai Indians orchestrated a trade deal with Royal Challengers Bangalore, exchanging Cameron Green for 17.50 crore, which is his IPL Auction 2023 price.

MI traded in Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans for 15 crore

With the addition of 17.75 crore to their purse, Mumbai Indians successfully signed Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans in a cash deal. This means that Mumbai Indians paid 15 crore to the Gujarat-based franchise to acquire the services of the all-rounder. However, this deal may prove costly to Gujarat Titans whom Pandya led to two consecutive finals. Amid, there are speculations of Shubman Gill taking the role of Gujarat Titans’s captain.

Meanwhile, there are rumors about Hardik Pandya possibly becoming the captain of Mumbai Indians. However, it seems unlikely since removing the five-time winning captain, Rohit Sharma, would be a questionable decision. But this is IPL, as Pandya’s trade from Gujarat Titans to Mumbai Indians becomes a reality, he might even end up as the captain, and Rohit Sharma could find himself playing under him. Who knows?
