Neeraj, his very first throw in the Qualification round cleared the qualifying distance of 83.50m to enter the finals of the event. He threw the Javelin as far as 86.65m and entered the finals straight away, in a single attempt. The current world no. 2 and 3, Marcin Krukowski and Keshorn Walcott respectively got eliminated in the Qualification round itself. This makes Neeraj one of the top contenders to grab a medal in the Finals.
