Neeraj Chopra became the first Javelin thrower from India to enter the Olympics Final. The Javelin thrower, on Wednesday, made sure that the Indian hopes, of a medal from Athletics are kept alive. Neeraj, his very first throw in the Qualification round cleared the qualifying distance of 83.50m to enter the finals of the event. Chopra has made the Indians expect highly from him after his heroic performance in the qualification round. He threw the Javelin as far as 86.65m and entered the finals straight away, in a single attempt. At the end of the Qualification round, Neeraj stood at the top of the table, above the World no.1 Johannes Vetter. The current world no. 2 and 3, Marcin Krukowski and Keshorn Walcott respectively got eliminated in the Qualification round itself. This makes Neeraj one of the top contenders to grab a medal in the Finals.
