‘Negativity’ – Kevin Pietersen explains why Shreyas Iyer led side having a horrible IPL season

The former English player wrote on his blog the reason why Kolkata Knight Riders have been unsuccessful in the IPL 2022.

Kolkata Knight Riders haven’t had the kind of season they would have liked as far as their performance in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League is concerned. The team lost a shocking 5 matches on the trot and got back to winning ways only in the 47th match of the season against Rajasthan Royals. The former English player Kevin Pietersen explains why the Kolkata team is having a hard time in IPL 2022.

Kevin Pietersen explains why KKR is failing

Kolkata Knight Riders started off their season on a great not as they attained victory in 3 matches in their first four games. However, post that, the performance went downhill for the franchise and they lost 5 matches continuously. The losing streak of the KKR has dented their chances of making it to the playoffs to a great extent. The team has disappointed a lot of fans and Kevin Pietersen explains the reason behind KKR’s hot and cold performance in the tournament.

Kevin Pietersen explains as he wrote on his blog about KKR’s dismal season so far. He feels that while Mumbai Indians’ performance has shocked everyone, KKR is not far behind and are on the same lines as Mumbai Indians. The constant chopping and changing has also affected the team and they haven’t been able to perform together as a team. Another crucial aspect Pietersen wrote about is the mindset of the current KKR camp.

“I know that Mumbai Indians are having a shocker, but KKR are also in a dreadful way. They won three of their first four games and have totally lost it since then. They’ve used 19 players so far, which is far too many. For a franchise as big as them, it’s just a horrible state of affairs. That is a dressing room full of the opposite energy to Gujarat: negative, negative, negative. They seemed really innovative last year, now it seems like the whole thing has run out of momentum,” wrote Kevin Pietersen.

Kolkata Knight Riders will next play against Lucknow Super Giants and all their games are going to be do-or-die matches for the team. They still have an outside chance of making it to the playoffs, but for that to happen, they will have to work as a team and bring their ‘A’ game to the fore.
