Most of the attendees were waiting to catch a glimpse of Virat Kohli, who was welcomed with a bouquet of flowers by the hotel staff. Meanwhile, one of the staff members approached Kohli for a handshake, but the cricketer awkwardly declined, saying, ‘Sir, do hi haath hain,’ which translates to ‘Sir, I have only two hands.’ Kohli’s reaction came as he was holding the bouquet in one hand and his luggage in the other.

As the video was published by an X handle, it didn’t go well with users. Many users called out Virat Kohli’s behavior and labeled him as arrogant. One user wrote that it was a once-in-a-lifetime moment for the person, and Kohli could have handed the flowers to another person to make his fan’s day.

After the incident, Virat Kohli left for his room with a polite ‘thank you’ and an awkward smile. Kohli arrived in Kanpur alongside coach Gautam Gambhir and teammate Rishabh Pant. The trio had gone to their hometowns after the Chennai Test and then flew to Kanpur together. The rest of the Indian team also reached Kanpur on the same day.
