Though the first Test match between both the teams was a low scoring affair, it was not short on thrill and excitement. On the other hand, Brendon McCullum was appointed the new head coach of the English team. Though Root is no longer the captain, his batting still did the talking in the first Test against New Zealand. Apart from his century, Joe Root’s bat is hogging the limelight currently because of a viral video.

Root was batting alongside Ben Foakes who played an integral role in England’s victory over the Kiwis. Kyle Jamieson was bowling to Foakes and Root was on the other hand. What caught the attention of everyone that Root’s bat was levitating with no support by the batsman.

Root went on to score an unbeaten 115 for his team along with Foakes’s crucial 32. Root broke a lot of records during his inning and one of them was that he became the only second English batsman to have completed 10,000 Test runs after Alastair Cook.
Earlier, New Zealand skipper opted to bat first after winning the toss and his side was bundled up on just a paltry 132 runs. The Kiwi bowlers did well to restrict English batsmen at just 141 runs. Though the Kiwi batsmen performed better in the second inning, their effort was not enough to stop Joe Root from taking his team to a victory.
