Pakistan took on New Zealand in the second ODI of the five-match ODI series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on April 29. The game witnessed a hilarious incident as umpires had to direct the ground staffs to fix the wrongly measured 30-yard circle as the game was halted for around 6 minutes.
According to an update on Geo news website, Pakistani news channel, the pitch was changed after the first over of New Zealand innings was delivered with inaccurate measurements. Experienced umpire Aleem Dar rectified the inaccurate dimension by measuring the distance with his steps.
The gound staff were called after which Aleem Dar instructed them to fix the measurements of the 30-yard circle. After a delay of around 6 minutes the measurements of the 30-yard circle were fixed and the game between Pakistan and New Zealand was resumed.

The video of the hilarious incident went viral across the social media platforms and led to massive trolling of Pakistan Cricket on social media. A twitter user wrote, “For the first time seeing in an international match that 30-yard circle being wrongly measured and corrected between the match.”

Another netizen posted on Twitter, “You won’t see this very often – a hold up in play after the umpires noticed that the 30 yard circle markers had been placed incorrectly #PAKvNZ #Cricket.”
Talking about the game, New Zealand posted a mammoth total of 336-5 in their 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell smashed a brilliant ton as he scored 129 runs off just 119 deliveries including 8 fours and 3 maximums.
Apart from Mitchell, skipper Tom Latham too played a stellar knock as he smashed 98 runs off only 85 deliveries. Opening batter Chad Bowes scored run-a-ball 51. Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf scapled 4 crucial wickets after conceding 78 runs off his 10 overs.
In response to New Zealand’s total, Pakistan got off to a great start courtesy of their opener Fakhar Zaman. The left-handed batter smashed 180 runs off just 144 deliveries with 17 fours and 6 maximums. Skipper Babar Azam too played a good knock of 65 runs.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan scored 54 runs off 41 balls as Pakistan eventually chased down the total in just 48.2 overs. Matt Henry, Shipley and Ish Sodhi took a wicket each but couldn’t restrict the flow of runs in order to prevent Pakistan from chasing the massive total of 337 runs.
