Pakistan and England will be squaring off against each other in a long T20 series, starting September 20. A total of 7 games will be played between both sides across two venues in Pakistan. The National Stadium of Karachi will be hosting the first 4 games, further, the remaining 3 matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. It is after a gap of 17 years that the England Cricket Team is touring Pakistan. This particular tour was initially scheduled to take place last year but the England Cricket Board pulled out of the tour back then citing security reasons. Now, the tour has been rescheduled with the upcoming 7-match T20I series along with a 3-match Test series for which the England side will return to Pakistan in the month of December.
England will be missing the services of Ben Stokes, Chris Jordan, and Liam Livingstone in the series against Pakistan. Jonny Bairstow is another exclusion from the England side. He was initially a part of the squad but due to an unfortunate injury, not only he has been ruled out of the Pakistan tour but T20 World Cup as well. Alex Hales has been brought back into the side after three-and-a-half years as Bairstow’s replacement.
On the other hand, Pakistan has left out Shaheen Shah Afridi for the upcoming series in order to give him enough time to recover for the T20 World Cup. Fakhar Zaman is another absentee as he as well is suffering from a knee injury. Two uncapped players, Leg-spinner Aamir Jamal and fast-bowling allrounder Abrar Ahmed have been named for the first time in the Pakistan squad.
