Ness Wadia has cleared the air around the news of KL Rahul making an exit from the PBKS setup.

KL Rahul has been a consistent player for Punjab Kings over the years. The skipper has curbed his attacking instinct and has played the role of an anchor for the Punjab franchise exceptionally well. After the closure of the 14th edition of the IPL, there have been speculations about Rahul’s future in the Punjab setup. Now, Ness Wadia opens up about the same during an interview.

KL Rahul was the third on the list of batsmen scoring the highest number of runs in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Punjab skipper scored 626 runs in just 13 matches. Though he led his team from the front, he was unable to take his side to the playoffs stage of the tournament. The co-owner of Punjab Kings Ness Wadia opens up on Rahul’s exit from the franchise.

Ness Wadia opens up on KL Rahul

PBKS co-owner, during an interview with NDTV 24X7, cleared the air around Rahul’s future in the team. “There are many players apart from KL Rahul, firstly. One player does not make up a team, I’ve always said that. Having said that, every player has a value and one thing I will say is we’ve learnt to adjust and adapt throughout. Any team that hinges too much on one player, that does prove beyond a point a liability,” the co-owner was quoted saying as Ness Wadia opens up on KL Rahul.

The players in the Punjab team couldn’t perform consistently, of course, with the exception of KL Rahul. All the other players were not as consistent and that cost the team dearly. The team could only win 6 of their 14 games and had only 12 points to show for their efforts. The team ended up on the losing side 8 times, ultimately finishing the league on the 6th spot.

As Ness Wadia opens up on Rahul’s future, it will be interesting to see which players will be retained by the Punjab Kings. The 2022 edition will see a total of 10 teams and the competition will get even stiffer with the inclusion of Ahmedabad and Lucknow franchises.
