Team India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw may not be having the best of times as a batsman but his agility as a fielder was on display at the warm-up game against Australia ‘A’. During the game, Shaw pulled off a stunning one-handed blinder to send back the Australian test captain Tim Paine.

Prithvi Shaw’s Brilliance On The Field

During the warm-up game against Australia A, Prithvi Shaw pulled out a dismissal out of nothing. In the 59th over of the Australia A innings, bowled by Umesh Yadav, a well-set Tim Paine had well timed his pull shot. But the end of it had seen the back of the Australian test captain.

Stationed at backward squard leg, Prithvi Shaw had timed his reaction perfectly to pull off a one-handed catch that sent Paine back. The dismissal saw the end of a century-run stand between Tim Paine and Cameron Green.

Prithvi Shaw Flops For India A; Rahane, Pujara Shine

Prithvi Shaw had an unforgetable outing with the bat. The promising young opener was dismissed for a duck, raising concerns over his form and ability to get going. Shaw’s run draught can be rooted back to the recently concluded Indian Premier League where he saw a poor run in the second half of the tournament.

Meanwhile, test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane made useful contributions with the bat. While Pujara made a patient 54, Rahane stroked a classful unbeaten century. In the bowling department, Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers picking up 3 wickets at an economical rate.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Having pocketed the T20 series, the action of India’s tour to Australia moves to red-ball cricket with the four-match test series. India currently hold the Border-Gavaskar trophy and will look forward to retaining it. The first of the four test matches is the day-night game which will be played at the Adelaide Oval.
