The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is in full flow and the fans are just loving every bit of the action that is on offer. The cricket-lovers were up for a treat on Thursday as they were in for the double-header. While the afternoon game was dominated by Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals overshadowed Kolkata Knight Riders in the evening game to get 2 more points. Prithvi Shaw slammed the fastest fifty in IPL 2021 and ensure a win for his team.

Shaw was in sublime form as he started the inning with 6 consecutive fours off Shivam Mavi, who bowled the first over of the second inning. Shaw’s onslaught made sure that Delhi Capitals were always on top and in the process Shaw slammed the fastest fifty in IPL 2021. The opening batsman’s inning was laced with 11 boundaries and 3 maximums.

Prithvi Shaw became the only batsman to score the fastest fifty so far in the IPL 2021 off just 18 deliveries. He is followed by Punjab Kings’ Deepak Hooda, KKR’s Andre Russell & Pat Cummins and Delhi Capitals’ Shimron Hetmyer who smashed the fifties in 20, 21, 23, and 23 deliveries respectively. Prithvi Shaw was ably supported by the Orange-Cap holder Shikhar Dhawan who fell after scoring 46 runs for his team.

Looking at the all-time fastest fifties in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings’ skipper KL Rahul takes the top spot taking only 14 deliveries to reach his fifty in the 2018 edition of the tournament. Yusuf Pathan takes the second spot on the list as he reached his fifty in just 15 balls in the 2014 edition. He is followed by the spin wizard Sunil Narine, Suresh Raina and Chris Gayle who took 15, 16, and 17 deliveries respectively to bring up their fifties.

Talking about the match, the Rishabh Pant led side had an upper hand in the game throughout with both their bowlers and batsmen performing well. Pant won the toss and opted to bowl first which proved to be a smart decision as the DC bowlers restricted KKR to a below-par score of 154. The DC batsmen made light work of the target with an opening partnership of 132 between Shaw and Dhawan.

After winning 5 matches out of the 7 games they have played, Delhi Capitals are sitting in the second position with 10 points in their kitty while KKR is in the 5th position with only 4 points in 7 games.
