PSL 2023: Mohammad Amir loses his cool after Babar Azam hit him for a boundary

Mohammad Amir leaked 42 runs in his four-over spell and didn't look threatening against Peshawar Zalmi.

Peshawar Zalmi took on Karachi Kings in the second match of the Pakistan Super League on February 14 at the National Stadium Karachi. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, who plays for the Karachi Kings franchise in the PSL lost his temper after Babar Azam smashed him for a boundary in his second over.

Mohammad Amir couldn’t hide his emotions after as he angrily threw the ball back in direction of the batter which was then collected by Karachi Kings’ wicketkeeper.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, who plays for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise in the Pakistan Super League looked in supreme touch in the game against Karachi Kings. Babar Azam played a scintillating knock of 68 runs off just 46 deliveries which included 7 fours and a solitary six.

The Pakistan skipper scored a boundary in the first over bowled by former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir. Azam faced Amir again in the sixth over of Peshawar Zalmi’s innings and flicked the fifth delivery of the over towards the fine leg boundary as Mohammad Amir drifted off his line.

Amir did have a smile on his face after being smashed for a boundary but he clearly looked frustrated after leaking runs for his side. The left-arm pacer then bowled a length delivery on the off-stump line which was defended by Babar Azam.

The ball went straight back to the pacer after Babar’s defensive push. Mohammad Amir who was furious after being hit for a boundary on the previous delivery, threw the ball back in frustration in the direction of the batter. However, the ball was aimed a bit far from Azam and was collected by Karachi Kings’ wicketkeeper.

Mohammad Amir couldn’t bowl well in his next two overs as well and remained wicket-less and gave away 42 runs in his four-over spell. Peshawar Zalmi put on a massive total of 199-5 as Tom-Kohler Cadmore scored a brutal 92 off just 50 deliveries. Cadmore along with Babar Azam didn’t allow the bowlers to settle down in the second game of PSL.

Karachi Kings’ Skipper Imad Wasim made sure his team was in the hunt throughout the game as he scored a vital 47 ball 80. However, his team fell short by 2 runs as they could just score 197 runs in their 20 overs. James Neesham and Wahab Riaz took a couple of wickets each to restrict their opponents below the score of 199.
