Pakistan Super League fans were treated by a closely-fought encounter on March 16 as Peshawar Zalmi defeated Islamabad United by 12 runs in the first eliminator. While Peshawar Zalmi won the game, an interesting incident caught attention of the Islamabad United fans.

Islamabad United’s skipper Shadab Khan came in to bowl the 13th over when the Peshawar Zalmi side was placed at a score of 125-2. Just before starting his over, Shadab Khan said,”Babar out hai is over mei.” The stump mic caught Shadab’s words perfectly.

Interestingly, the premier leg-spinner went on to do what he has promised before the start pf the over. On the final delivery of the same over, Shadab bowled a flat delivery around the middle stump and Babar Azam got beaten by his pace. The ball crashed onto Babar’s front pad.

The on-field umpire adjudged him out as it looked plumb and the Peshawar Zalmi skipper had to take a long walk back to the pavilion. Babar Azam played a scintillating knock of 64 runs off just 39 deliveries including 10 boundaries.

Apart from skipper Babar Azam, it was their opening batter Saim Ayub who gave Peshawar Zalmi the kind of start they were looking for. Young Mohammad Haris too chipped in with a quick-fire 34 off just 17 deliveries striking it at a rate of 200 and helped his side post a massive total of 183-8.

In response to the total posted by Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United got a good start courtesy of English opening batter Alex Hales who scored 57 runs off just 37 deliveries including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Sohaib Maqsood too joined the party and went on to score 60 runs off just 48 deliveries.
