New Zealand commentator Simon Doull is into headlines once again for his weird commentary in PSL 2023. The game between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans on March 7 brought cricket fans on the edge of their seats as the Islamabad based franchise clinched the game on the second last delivery of their innings.

Just after the final run was scored by all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, the winning team’s dugout started celebrating the thrilling victory. The camera then shifted towards Hassan Ali’s wife Samiyaa Arzoo after which broadcaster Simon Doull ended up making a weird comment on her.

“She has won it. She has won a few hearts as well I believe. That is superb, absolutely stunning. And the victory,” Simon Doull said on air after Islamabad United’s victory. The Kiwi commentator triggered plethora of reactions from netizens for his unusual remark on Hasan Ali’s wife Samiyaa Arzoo.

Earlier, Simon Doull had received severe criticism by cricket fans for his harsh comments on Pakistan skipper Babar Azam during a PSL match. Doull had accused Babar Azam of putting his personal milestones ahead of the team’s cause.

“Rather than putting the team first… the last little while, that’s all that been happening. Rather than looking for boundaries, still so much firepower to come. Hundreds are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first,” Simon Doull had said during the ongoing Pakistan Super League game.

Talking about the game, opener Colin Munro provided the necessary momentum to Islamabad United’s innings in order to chase down the massive target of 206 set by Multan Sultans. Skipper Shadab Khan too played a vital knock of 44 runs in just 25 deliveries including 3 fours and 3 sixes.

After Shadab’s dismissal, it was all-rounder Faheem Ashraf who took on the Multan bowlers and went on to score a half-century in just 26 deliveries including 2 maximums helping his team chase down the total on the second-last delivery of the 20th over as they won their sixth game in the PSL 2023. Islamabad United are now placed on the second position in the Pakistan Super League points table after securing 6 victories in 9 games.
