T20 cricket is all about entertainment and it is quite obvious that interesting or strange incidents tend to happen during the passage of play. During the ongoing edition of PSL 2024, Sahibzada Farhan hogged the limelight after he lost his grip on his willow so much that the bat went flying a long way. The right-handed batter who plays for Lahore Qalandars was hoping to get his team off to a good start by targeting the powerplay overs.
During the third ball of the innings, he tried to step down the track and smash Quetta Gladiators’ bowler, Mohammad Amir. The left-arm paceman overpitched the ball and meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan advanced to smash the ball towards the off-side. As it turned out, he completely lost his bat as it slipped away from his hands while he attempted to generate enough power against the pace of the ball.

Little did the batsman know that he would lose the bat from his hands and despite all that, he still managed to get a good connection before dispatching the ball for four runs. However, he didn’t last long as he was dismissed by Abrar Ahmed in the third ball of the sixth over. Lahore Qalandars posted 166 for the loss of 4 wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Shafique remained unbeaten on 59 off 39 balls wherein he smashed 3 fours and 2 sixes whereas skipper Shaheen Afridi chipped in with 55 off 34 balls including 2 fours and 4 sixes. In reply, Quetta Gladiators put up a great fight in the run-chase wherein they showed defiance in the form of Saud Shakeel who guided the team to a memorable win in Karachi.

The left-hander took the bowling attack to the cleaners from the word go and played a sensible brand of cricket, scoring 88* off 65 balls, laced with 5 fours and 4 sixes. The game had drama till the climax as Quetta Gladiators chased down the target in the last ball and won the game by six wickets. Saud Shakeel was adjudged the Man of the Match for his scintillating batting display.
