Peshawar Zalmi started the PSL 2024 season with 2 defeats, but they are back to winning ways, securing victory in 3 matches in a row. In the last match against Islamabad United on February 26, the Babar Azam-led side won by 8 runs. Babar Azam and Saim Ayub’s 77-run partnership set the tone for them, and Babar Azam went on to score a century, enabling Peshawar to post a 201-run total.

Saim Ayub’s innings was restricted to 38 runs, but he provided enough moments for the fans to cheer. His six during the innings left the crowd stunned. He played an outrageous no-look six off Tymal Mills’ delivery in the 5th over. Moving across the off stump, the 21-year-old batter effortlessly flicked the ball towards fine leg. He held the pose and didn’t even look at the ball after the contact.

The ball traveled a distance of 65 meters. With this six, Ayub reached 30 runs in just 14 balls. However, his knock was ended by Agha Salman in the 8th over. But the wicket didn’t affect Babar Azam’s way of batting. He held one end and went on to smash an unbeaten 111 runs in 63 balls, receiving the man of the match award for his match-winning ton.

With the 3rd win in 5 games, Peshawar Zalmi moved to the 3rd position on the points table. Babar Azam has led his side from the front. In the 5 games, he has amassed 330 runs, making him the highest run-scorer in PSL 2024 so far.

On the other hand, Saim Ayub has also shown consistency. He has scored 175 runs in this PSL season so far, including an 88-run knock against Lahore Qalandars. Zalmi have 5 more league matches remaining this season.
