Quinton de Kock has continued his remarkable form in the match against Australia. The CWC clash saw the South African opener lifting his bat for the 2nd time in a row. Before getting clean bowled by Glenn Maxwell, Quinton de Kock aggregated 109 runs off 106 balls, his batting prowess against the Aussies included 8 boundaries and 5 sixes. He had scored a century against Sri Lanka in the last game and with consecutive hundreds he registered his name in an elite list.

Quinton de Kock is 4th batter after Sangakkara, Rohit and de Villiers to score back-to-back CWC hundreds

Quinton de Kock became only the 4th batsman in the history of the ICC World Cup to score two back-to-back centuries. Kumar Sangakkara tops the list with 4 consecutive tons in the 2015 World Cup. Followed by Rohit Sharma who hit 3 back to back centuries in CWC 2019. De Kock equals AB de Villiers today who scored 2 consecutive centuries during the 2011 World Cup.

Now, South Africa will face the Netherlands in their next clash on October 17 and de Kock will be eying 3rd consecutive ton. However, he has already done this before in ODI Cricket. Against India in 2013, the Proteas opener had scored a century in every game of the 3-match series.

It’s worth noting that, Quinton de Kock will hang his boots from the ODI format after the ICC World Cup 2023. The keeper-batter wants to explore T20 leagues around the world but he will continue to play T20I Cricket for South Africa.
