Royal Challengers Bangalore Women etched their name into the record books after they defied all the odds, braved tough challenges to win the historic Women’s IPL title in the second edition of the Women’s Premier League. Smriti Mandhana-led RCB Women got the better of Delhi Capitals Women by 8 wickets to win the elusive trophy at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
On the contrary, RCB Men’s team didn’t get hold of the trophy in 16 seasons, despite managing to reach the finals on three occasions. RCB reached their final IPL final in 2009 but surrendered at the hands of Deccan Chargers (now-defunct franchise). They reached the second final in 2011 but lost to Chennai Super Kings. Five seasons later, they managed to reach the final again in 2016 but lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last season under Faf du Plessis’ captaincy. Having played 14 games in the league stage, they won seven and lost as many games in the competition, which saw them finish sixth on the points table. They must have learnt some valuable lessons last season, they will be looking forward to giving absolutely everything to target the first title.
