Gautam Gambhir got involved in a heated verbal banter with Virat Kohli during the RCB vs LSG game on May 1 after which journalist Rajat Sharma called out Gambhir for being ‘jealous’ of Kohli’s popularity. Gautam Gambhir has now hit back at Rajat Sharma stating that he ran away from Delhi Cricket citing ‘pressure’.

Virat Kohli and LSG pacer Naveen ul Haq had a heated discussion during LSG vs RCB game. The two players were in no mood to settle down the matter even during the customary handshake. Gautam Gambhir watched this from side-lines and vented out with frustration when he angrily took Kyle Mayers away from the star RCB batter.

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were fined 100% of their match fees while Naveen ul Haq was fined 50% of his match fees. The incident became a hot topic of discussion on social media as users shared their opinion on the forgetful incident.

Gautam Gambhir lashes out at former DDCA president Rajat Sharma

Rajat Sharma had taken a sly dig at Gambhir on national television by stating that the LSG mentor has become arrogant after becoming a Member of the Parliament. He also pointed out that Gambhir’s behaviour towards Kohli does not suit his image as the mentor of the team nor as the Member of the Parliament.

“How Virat Kohli’s popularity worries Gambhir was witnessed yet again, clearly on the ground. Kohli is a player who is always aggressive, doesn’t tolerate any nonsense and so he gave Gambhir an apt reply. In all, what Gambhir did is against the sportsman spirit.” Rajat Sharma said live on India TV.

Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter on May 3 after Rajat Sharma’s opinion on the controversy. The LSG mentor wrote, “Man who ran away from Delhi Cricket citing “pressure” seems over-eager to sell paid PR as concern for cricket!”

Rajat Sharma who’s a well-known TV news anchor, was also the president of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) from 2018 to 2019. He had resigned from the post citing vested interests among other DDCA members after which Rohan Jaitley was elected as the DDCA president.

However, the situation in DDCA is completely chaotic and I find it impossible to continue any further as President,” Rajat Sharma was reported as saying by The Quint.
