Royal Challengers Bangalore has changed many jerseys over the years. They are the first franchise to come up with a home and away kits idea in the league. They did this in 2016 when they donned two different jerseys for their home and away matches. Also, Virat Kohli-led side wears a green jersey for one match every year to raise awareness against recycling. Now, this year, RCB will wear a special blue jersey during their upcoming match against KKR.
RCB Blue Jersey reason
On Saturday morning, the official Twitter handle of the RCB informs regarding their new jersey. Bangalore team will wear the blue jersey in a bid to show solidarity and respect to all the frontline workers who are helping the nation fight Covid. Jerseys that players don during the match will go for auction to raise funds for oxygen support.
The design of RCB’s new kit is the same as their regular attire but the color red is replaced by blue. On the kit, there is a mask on the franchise’s logo to raise mask awareness. The social media handle of RCB posts a pic of their skipper wearing the blue jersey. The caption of the post reads, “This season RCB is going to be sporting a special Blue jersey in 1 of the upcoming matches with key messaging on the match kit to pay our respect & show solidarity to all the front line heroes who have spent last year wearing PPE kits & leading the fight against the pandemic.”

Bangalore will wear Green Jersey later
Bangalore team will put on the blue attire on 3 of May in their game against Kolkata Knight Riders. In 2020, Challengers also displayed a special gesture to respect frontline warriors of the pandemic. RCB players had renamed their jerseys and Twitter handles’ to Covid-19 heroes name.

Later this season, Virat Kohli and co. will go green in one of their league matches. it will be the 11th time in 2021 when RCB will don a green jersey, but it hasn’t been fruitful as far as results are concerned. RCB have won only twice out of 10 games when they wore jerseys made of recycled plastic.
IPL teams and Players making donations
As the country seeing the worst phase of the pandemic, IPL franchises and players are coming forward to help the nation fight the deadly disease. Rajasthan Royals and Delhi capitals donated 7.5 core and 1.5 crore respectively. Pat Cummins earned Indian fans’ respect becoming the first overseas players to help with a donation of 50,000 Australian dollars.
Shikhar Dhawan, Nicholas Pooran and Jaydev Unadkat also announced that they will do their bit by donating a part of their IPL salary. Also, the money that RCB will raise by selling blue jerseys will be used for buying oxygen supplies for the Covid patients.
