On Wednesday, the social media activity of Royal Challengers Bangalore created a buzz. RCB name change started trending on the web after the official Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts of the franchise removed the profile picture and cover photos. Even they deleted all the pictures from their Instagram handle. This sparked speculations that the Virat Kohli-led team is going to change the name.
RCB Name Change Date Revealed
Even RCB didn’t inform their skipper Virat Kohli about the changes they are going to make. Seeing all the posts going disappear from the social media handles, Virat tweeted, “Posts disappear and the captain isn’t informed. Let me know if you need any help.” Vice-captain AB de Villiers also seemed surprised by the activity of the Bangalore team. The South African batsman tweeted, “Folks at what’s happened to our social media accounts? Hope it’s just a strategy break”
Meanwhile, RCB has finally posted for the first time since the surprising activity. On Thursday, RCB made it clear that their recent activity has a connection to the name change of franchise. Official Twitter handles of the franchise posted a picture with a caption, “Brace yourselves, 14th February, remember the date,” The text on the picture reads, “New decade, new RCB,”
Royal Challengers Bengaluru?
So this is clearly telling that the team is going to make a big announcement on 14th February. The phrase ‘New decade, new RCB’ is indicating that the Royal Challengers Bangalore is going to change name and logo for the IPL 2020 season. Before this, the Virat Kohli-led team had changed the logo back in 2016.
According to reports, some followers of the team were not happy as RCB is using Bangalore in the name which is the old name of the ‘Silicon Valey’. Now the city named as Bengaluru and RCB might change Bangalore with Bengaluru in their name. Although, the IPL franchise is going to reveal tomorrow that what’s cooking.
